Project OpportunitySM – Featured Success Story

GuideOn™ Education Consulting LLC

Business Name: GuideOn™ Education Consulting LLC.

What was the most important thing you learned during Project Opportunity?:
While participating in Project Opportunity, I was simultaneously navigating a complex trademark dispute that required me to reevaluate my business structure and service classifications. The program provided a space to think strategically about risk management, refine my business plan, and narrow the scope of services to align with my long-term goals.

Through this process, I realized the importance of pivoting away from the federal contracting space, where bureaucracy and gatekeeping often slow meaningful progress, and instead focusing on the more collaborative and transparent state and local levels. Building clarity around my business direction allowed me to establish permanence in Maryland through state certifications and to understand county-level procurement and supplier diversity requirements better. Project Opportunity gave me the tools and confidence to design a sustainable growth strategy that reflects my mission and values.

What successes have you had since completing Project Opportunity?:
Since completing Project Opportunity, I’ve successfully refocused and pivoted GuideOn’s strategy—emerging from my trademark case with a renewed vision and a modernized brand. I launched an updated website, refreshed all marketing and service materials, and secured my first contract with the State of Maryland, serving the military family and veteran community.

GuideOn has expanded its presence across Maryland through continued participation in state and local events, including engagements with the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families and advocacy groups like the Fort Meade Alliance. I’ve continued to build strategic partnerships with other Veteran-owned firms to deliver high-quality training, communications, and curriculum development services. These collective efforts have strengthened GuideOn’s foundation, deepened its local impact, and positioned the company for continued growth in the coming years.
