Project OpportunitySM – Featured Success Story
Amber Batson
Sweet Dreams & Lullabies
Business Name: Sweet Dreams & Lullabies.
What was the most important thing you learned during Project OpportunitySM?:
The most important thing I learned during Project OpportunitySM was how to take a vision and turn it into a real, structured business. Before the program, I had the desire and determination, but I didn’t fully understand the foundation behind running a business. Project OpportunitySM gave me the tools, confidence, and discipline to move from just having an idea to actually executing it with purpose.
What successes have you had since completing Project OpportunitySM?:
Since completing Project OpportunitySM, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life—I stepped away from my career in the healthcare field to fully pursue entrepreneurship and create a life that allows me to be more present with my children.
When I first started, I honestly had no idea what I was doing. I just knew I wanted something different for myself and my family, and I was willing to take the risk to make it happen. The beginning was challenging, with a lot of learning, long days, and moments of uncertainty. However, I remained consistent, committed, and focused on my goal.
Today, I am proud to say that I have successfully launched and grown my licensed home-based daycare, Sweet Dreams & Lullabies LLC, and I am currently operating at full capacity. What started as an idea has become a stable and thriving business serving families in my community.
Since opening, I have also been awarded multiple grants through the state of Maryland to support the growth and development of my program. In addition, I am a participant in Maryland EXCELS, which reflects my commitment to providing high-quality childcare and continuous improvement.
Looking ahead, I plan to continue growing my business and expand within the next year to increase my impact and serve even more families.
