2019 Project OpportunitySM Graduation, Southern Maryland – Fall

SOUTHERN MARYLAND FALL 2019 CLASS – Project Opportunity partnered with  Charles County Department of Economic Development, Calvert County Department of Economic Development, PNC Bank, BB&T Bank, Community Bank of Chesapeake, TEDCO, Maryland Rural Council, Disk Enterprise Solutions, Precise Systems, Inc., Spalding Consulting, Hilton Garden Inn,, and the Southern Maryland America Job Center to provide Project OpportunitySM to veterans who reside in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties. After the completion of the orientation and telephonic screening assessments a total of nine (9) veterans were accepted into the program. Here is a summary of their business ventures:

  • Working with Senior Citizens
  • Entertainment
  • A-1 Affordable Printing
  • Government Contracting
  • Talent Management Consulting
  • Transportation
  • Drone Photography Services

Classes started on September 10, 2019 at the American Legion Post 238 in Hughesville who donated classroom space for us.

The Graduation Ceremony was held on November 19, 2019 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.  A total of seven (7) veterans completed the course and graduated. Those business ventures that these graduating veterans are seeking to start or expand are:

  • CAI Industries, LLC (Rental Properties)
  • Dasher’s Care (Working with Senior Citizens)
  • Corporate Conference Solutions (Event Planning)
  • Affordable A-1 Printing, LLC
  • MxD Couture (Clothing)
  • Somerville Consulting Group (Talent Management Consulting)

Alan Crawley, Labor Exchange Administrator for Southern Maryland, Maryland Department of Labor, was the Guest Speaker.

Katina McDonald, a graduate of the Project OpportunitySM Fall 2014 Class held in Odenton, Maryland and Owner of Photography by Katina McDonald provided the photographic services for the ceremony.
